About Me
I was born and raised in Hawaii. I obtained my Master's of Counseling degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Phoenix. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Certified Substance Abuse Counselor, and Internationally Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor. I have over 15 years of experience in the social services field, and have provided counseling for churches, schools, agencies, and state programs. In addition, I have provided various trainings at local, state and national levels.
My areas of experience include marital and relationship issues, depression, trauma, grief and loss, and parenting. I also provide specialized counseling for children and adolescents who have experienced trauma, using an evidence-based model called Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
I am also a member of the National Child Traumatic Stress Network, and a co-leader for their Domestic Violence Collaborative Working Group.
My goal in counseling is to help individuals overcome their challenges, find meaning and joy in life, and become healthy and well-adjusted individuals mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
